In our previous blog post in this series, we explored the rationale behind our rebrand and how client feedback helped shape our new look, identity, and messaging. That feedback also revealed an important insight: many clients were not aware of the full range of services and programs Myers & Stauffer now offers. In this post, we explore how our services have evolved and highlight several areas of expertise you may not know about.
Last year, we conducted an external survey of our clients to better understand how they view Myers & Stauffer and the value we provide. The results showed that clients place a strong emphasis on our deep knowledge and collaborative approach. Descriptions of our work that highlight our technical capabilities resonated most strongly, with expertise, trust, and partnership emerging as key benefits of working with Myers & Stauffer.
The two high-ranked descriptions of their comments were:

These insights helped shape brand positioning grounded in our purpose while emphasizing the differentiators that deliver the most value to clients: expertise and partnership.
The survey also identified an opportunity to better communicate the breadth of our services. While clients were familiar with many of our traditional areas of expertise, fewer recognized our work in areas other service and program areas.
That insight became an important part of our rebrand: making it easier for clients and prospective clients to understand the full scope of how we can support public health and human services programs.
From One Medicaid Project to a Broad Portfolio of Services
Our story began in 1973, when two accounting professors from Washburn University took on a pharmacy rate-setting project for the state of Kansas. Medicaid and Medicare were still relatively new programs, and states needed a knowledgeable partner to help navigate the financial and operational complexities of public healthcare and human services programs.
In 1977, Bruce Myers and Darrell Stauffer founded the firm to answer that need. We started with one project, in one state, and one office in Topeka—a converted house and garage known as the Annex.
As public healthcare and human services programs evolved, so did Myers & Stauffer. Our work expanded into the services for which we are best known today, including rate setting and reimbursement and audit and attest.
Today: A Full Suite of Health and Human Services Expertise
Today, Myers & Stauffer supports federal and state agencies across the Medicaid and Medicare lifecycle, as well as a broad range of public health and human services programs.
