Child Care and Development Fund Improper Payments Rate Reporting

Every three years, the Administration for Children & Families requires states to complete Child Care Development Fund (CCDF) Improper Payments error rate review process and then report the findings to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

To meet the requirements of the Improper Payments Information Act, states are required to complete a review of 276 cases selected from a 12-month review period based on the Federal Fiscal Year. The Office of Child Care within the Administration for Children & Families has published guidance entitled, “Child Care Improper Payments Data Collection Instructions,” which outlines the process for states to complete the child care subsidy improper payment review.

Important Implications

We know state resources are valuable and scarce. State agency staff have myriad responsibilities relating to program administration and must navigate a changing regulatory environment and budgetary constraints. Accurately completing the case record reviews and error rate reporting requires an in-depth knowledge of the regulations, policies, and processes governing the CCDF subsidy program. Our experience and expertise make us the ideal partner for states when completing the error rate reporting process, reducing the burden on state staff and allowing them to focus on fulfilling their agency’s mission.
